Available Positions
We’re looking for nurses! Strong candidates will be self-initiating and collaborate skillfully as part of a small healthcare team and a large all-camp team, including under stress. Nurses successful in this role balance a powerful work ethic and commitment to Odyssey Teen Camp’s mission with adaptability, playfulness, and a sense of humor. A passion for providing respectful, compassionate care for trans/gender non-conforming and neurodivergent teens is highly valued. OTC offers a fun, rewarding, and refreshing nursing experience. Compensation is $1500/week, with housing and meals provided.
Nurse Responsibilities:
- Assess camper injury and illness
- Independently apply nursing judgment and mindfully adhere to provider’s orders in delivering interventions
- Determine when emergency care or evaluation by an Advanced Practitioner is indicated
- Administer scheduled and PRN medications
- Document all assessments, interventions, medications administered, communication with parents/guardians, and disposal of medical/biological waste accurately and completely
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of Health Hut and equipment
- Review and organize camper health forms and records
- Provide on-call overnight coverage on a rotational basis
- Train camp counselors in first-aid, infection control, head injury response, and allergy awareness
- Collaborate with the Health Hut team, Directorship Team, Wellness team, camp counselors, and the local
- Board of Health: follow instructions, incorporate feedback, voice concerns, and delegate tasks as appropriate
- Ensure that all Odyssey Teen Camp protocols, local and state guidelines for healthcare provision and camp management, and evidence-based best practices are upheld at all times
- Adhere to HIPPA standards
- Create a positive and inclusive medical environment for campers and staff by respecting pronouns and identities
- Assist in maintaining a camp atmosphere that is comfortable, playful, and supportive for all campers and staff
Nurse requirements:
- Current Massachusetts nursing license (RN or LPN) or ability to obtain before start of employment
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of state guidelines for nursing practice and camp management or capacity to familiarize
- Ability to pass a background check, complete a physical exam, and provide proof of immunizations
- Physical ability to navigate uneven terrain in an outdoor environment

We are looking for enthusiastic Cabin Counselors who can lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that Odyssey Teen Camp has to offer. You should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun and safe camp experience. To succeed as a Cabin Counselor, you should be responsible and organized with strong leadership skills.
Camp Counselor Responsibilities:
- Working with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate camp programs.
- Lead programs that you share a passion for
- Monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
- Clean, maintain and ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
- Memorize all emergency procedures and enforce camp rules.
- Participate in staff meetings.
Camp Counselor Requirements:
- Minimum of 20 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- First aid, CPR, and additional training may be required.
- Physical ability to participate in activities, run, climb, swim, and support children's weight.
- Ability to pass a background check, a physical, and proof of immunizations.
- High level of responsibility and accountability.
- Upbeat, engaging personality.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
The Media Specialist is responsible for managing all media taken of campers and staff throughout each camp day, uploading the photographs to our camper photo site, and organizing photos into folders for future use. In addition, they are expected to actively film live video to be used in our slideshow/video and year-round marketing.
Media Specialist Requirements:
- Minimum 20 years of age
- Proven experience as a photographer/videographer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of photography art and lighting
- Strong creative presence
- General proficiency/understanding of media organization
- software and equipment
- (video cameras, DSLR, adobe, final cut, etc.)
Media Specialist Responsibilities:
- Management and delegation of staff assigned to take pictures during periods every day at camp
- Organize and keep track of all equipment used to take photos/videos
- Understanding and execution of our media shot sheet/punch list
- Screen and upload camper photos, understand our policies about publishing
- Manage media libraries on web platforms daily and maintain “hard” copies on our A/V computer.
- Create a weekly slideshow for campers and parents
- Communication with our Social Media and marketing staff remotely
- Understanding OTC’s mission statement and keeping this reflected in the moments we capture
- Being a part of a collaborative group and having a great time!
Waterfront Director is responsible for the safety and security of all people in and around the waterfront at camp, as well as the upkeep and operations of the waterfront.
Skills and Experience:
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to assess and communicate information to the lifeguard team, campers, and parents.
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard and Waterfront Skills Certifications.
Specific Responsibilities for Lifeguard:
- Maintain the safety of all people in and around the waterfront area.
- Remain alert and use all senses while guarding.
- Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
- Work as a team with other lifeguards.
- Handle discipline situations with courtesy.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of waterfront area, including boathouse.
- Assign and delegate tasks to aquatic observers.
- Complete all necessary injury reports.
- Set up the waterfront area for specific activities according to the weekly program schedule.
- Weekly testing of swimming water; record results and report to supervisor.
- Communicate and enforce all camp regulations for the waterfront professionally.
- Assist maintenance staff in daily cleaning tasks when not at the waterfront.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
